The Norwegian Barents Secretariat emphasizes the importance of documenting knowledge and activity in the Barents Region. We do this by financing reports, reviews and book projects, and by being the writers or editors of publications ourselves.
In 2008 we started publishing quarterly reports for four of the administrative entities in the Russian part of the Barents Region, called Barents Monitoring. Trough these report, the readers are given insight in the economical trends and economic development in the Russian part of the Barents Region. These reports are written by the staff at our three Russian offices.
In 2010 the first Barents Review report will be published. This is a report written by the staff of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, where we present a practically-oriented and experience-based analysis and reflections on the situation in the Barents Region.
In addition the Norwegian Barents Secretariat runs the news web site, www.BarentsObserver.com. The web site is updated daily and news stories from all over the Barents Region are presented in English and Russian. The web site has become one of the most important media sources for High North issues.
