Cooperation for young trade union activists
The Russian and Norwegian young trade union leaders met in Arkhangelsk to discuss questions concerning how to engage young people in trade unions.
Russian-Norwegian seminar «Problems of the youth in trade unions» took place on November 2nd -4th in a tourist complex «Malye Korely» in Arkhangelsk. Norwegian youth secretaries of trade-unions from Troms, Nordland, Møre and Romsdal counties took part in the seminar and also trade-union youth active workers from Finnmark county and Spitsbergen. The Russian side was represented by members from the Youth Council in the Federation of Trade unions of the Arkhangelsk region, and also trade-union active workers from healthcare, education, shipbuilding, wood industry, agriculture and other spheres.
Questions of engaging young people in trade unions were discussed at the seminar, as well as the rights and duties of young workers, trade-union activity in high-schools and many other relevant issues.
A similar seminar had taken place two weeks before in Troms county, where leaders of youth trade-union organizations from Arkhangelsk and Murmansk had met together with their Norwegian colleagues. Seminar participants discussed the background and ideology of working-class movement, exchanged experience in arrangement of youth actions, and also visited the world’s northernmost brewery «Mack» where they learned about the activity of the primary trade-union organization.
