Barents Business Development
Due to the economic development in Russia, business cooperation across the Norwegian-Russian border has had a growing importance. For the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, business cooperation projects across the Norwegian-Russian border is an important area of priority.

Business cooperation between Norwegian and Russian companies has been one of the most important fundaments for developing the Barents Cooperation from day one. Today the business cooperation in the Barents Region is vivid, especially due to the development plans of the petroleum industry in the Barents Sea area.

Facilitation for increased border crossing business cooperation in the region will be important in the years to come. The Norwegian Barents Secretariat will contribute to promote Norwegian business establishments in the Russian part of the Barents Region, with a focus on natural resources, fish and other marine products.The Norwegian Barents Secretariat will support explanations on new projects, contribute to the establishment of new arenas for networking and to funding for establishing new business projects.

The Norwegian Barents Secretariat is a member of the project The Northern Maritime Corridor, where the main focus is to develop the constraints for sea transport from the Barents Region to the European markets and the rest of the world. The Norwegian Barents Secretariat is working actively to strengthen the cooperation between harbors in the Barents Region.
